Different attributes do different things depending on the pet and the skills of the pet. You can learn about what each attribute does for each pet by saying "tell me about [skill name]" for each skill on a pet. But generally, strength and intelligence scale damage of most skills, speed determines who executes their skill first in a battle and vitality determines the maximum health of a pet.
