Damage embers

Why is the ember of fire damage weaker than the ember of increased damage even when I am using abilities that deal fire damage? I feel like my equipment with 50 embers of increased damage is allowing my Kose to do more damage than the equipment with 50 members of fire damage.

They work best together. If you put 25 of both embers on each equipment, both of your Kaze's will do more damage.

Let me put this another way: If I changed elemental damage embers to be the same as increased damage embers, just 5% increased damage, people with a lot of both would deal much less damage.

Actually, Kaze is probably an exception to my line of thinking with the embers. Kaze has extremely high base damage, so it takes significantly more elemental damage embers to make a difference with base damage. Other pet's skills have much less base damage and a much higher skill damage multipliers, so adding more base damage with the elemental embers is more significant.

OK, how do we know which pets should be given equipment with elemental damage, boosting embers, and which ones should be given base damage boosting embers?

Most skills scale the same way. Base damage is from attributes and any added corresponding elemental damage. Then the skill's damage multiplier increases the base damage. For example, Rex Bite has a skill damage multiplier of 10x and scales off of strength. So if you have 100 strength, Rex Bite will do 1,000 damage. If you have 1 Ember of Earth Damage, the base damage is increased to 600, 100 from strength and 500 from the ember, and then multiplied by 10 by the skill damage multiplier for a total of 6,000 damage. After the base damage and skill damage multiplier are calculated, the increased damage that has a percentage is applied. So continuing the Rex Bite example, the Ember of Earth Damage would increase the damage by 1% to a total of 6,060. If you also had a Ember of Increased Damage, it would be increased by another 5% for a total of 6% increased and 6,360 damage. Then elemental effectiveness, critical damage, and increased damage taken(Shock, Maimed, etc.) are calculated. Skills that hit multiple times have a much lower skill damage multiplier.

The exceptions are Kaze, Burpee/Grotesque, Poodoo and its evolution that's coming out soon, Dumpy. These all have extremely high base damage and little to no skill damage multiplier. These are also all very strong, but like I said before, the elemental damage embers aren't going to help much since they already have extremely high base damage.

The key to doing a lot of damage is by multiplying the damage at each step as much as possible. This basically the equation: Base Damage * Skill Damage Multiplier * Increased Damage Percent * Elemental Effectiveness * Critical Strike Damage * Increased Damage Taken.

Right now, almost all of the top damage dealers in the summoning shrine use Lectry or Treekin for Shock. Getting a high critical strike chance and critical strike damage is very important. Garlic French Fries and Brand of Seacorn can help increase your critical strike chance and damage by a bit if you're new to the game and don't have a lot of critical embers. I've also been adding new ways of increasing the skill damage multiplier. For example, Nezumi's brand and Bloodwing's transformation Noctis with Dark Aura.

How many stacks of shocked does treekin trigger? It doesn’t say in the description. Is treekin, or lectrie better for dealing shock damage?

Treekin applies far too many shock stacks, more than Lectry. The game has changed so much since I added it. If your Treekin has 100k intelligence, it will apply max stacks of shock with Ritual of Thunder. It used to be much much harder to get 100k of any attribute, now it's quite easy.

now I know why I am not doing very well when it comes to damage, you need a degree in mathematics, mathematics is not one of my strong points LOL

My english is not good enough to understand all the math logic so I'm the worse :(

How are defense, defense ignore, and resilience factored in? How do they contribute to damage calculation? Also, do the shrine bosses have defense? If I equip pets with defense ignore, will it do anything? Lastly, KAZE primary move is based off of the summon pets Health, does this mean speed has nothing to do with that damage calculation?

Why can't we find out how many more embers of various types we need to increase the percentage of various attributes on the equipment? right now it's a massive guessing game for me and I'm literally getting nowhere LOL!

The damage is based on the skills. So you can say/type 'tell me about skill name' and it will tell you the attribute that the damage is based off of and the element. If it's a strength skill, Ember of Major Strength will make it deal more damage. If it deals earth damage, Ember of Earth Damage will also increase it's damage. Then there are embers that are good for all pets and skills, Ember of Increased Damage, Ember of Critical Strike Chance, and Ember of Critical Strike Damage.

Will defense ignore effect the shrine bosses?

does KAZE use it speed for the damage calculation of Canon fodder? Or, is canon fodder only based off of the summoned pets vitality/health? Also, do the shrine bosses use defense? Will defense ignore effect them?
